My Fitness Obsessions
At-home workouts have helped me in more ways than one
Movement Creates Momentum
I’ve been working out regularly for 15+ years now. It’s ingrained in me. As a kid, I loved pushing myself physically. I remember I would always shoot up to the tippy top of the climbing rope in gym class as fast as I could. It was so fun and exciting to touch that metal anchor! Movement is something I crave and I believe is absolutely necessary to our mental health and physical longevity.
(My kryptonite is sweets. Give me all the sweets and I’ll proceed to eat all the sweets:)
I notice especially as I get older that the nutrition part is more of a factor than the workouts but I really love moving my body and the accomplishment I feel afterwards. But I take rest days for sure.
I’ve had burnout and have felt unmotivated. There are peaks and valleys, various seasons of life. It’s all a part of it.
But consistency really is key.
I think this is especially true as a stay at home mom. There are so many chores and tasks to get done throughout the day. There just aren’t enough hours, am I right?! But after I exercise, I feel like I achieved something and can start my day on the right foot.
I feel like a better version of myself.
I encourage anyone to move their body in some way whenever there’s an opportunity, whether it be taking a walk, bike riding with your kids, or even taking it a step further and trying something you haven’t done before.
Exploring is fun!
Maybe if you were a gymnast as a kid, look into adult gymnastic classes? I tried Zumba classes while I lived in the city and The Barre Code. I loved it all.
Just like with any other passion, when you find something you love, you’ve opened yourself up to new possibilities!
So start small and see how it grows.
